UGC validity

UGC, the government body that looks after universities, treats an online degree the same as a campus degree when both of these are true.

  1. 1The BCA is one of the degrees named in UGC’s official list of degrees.
  2. 2UGC allows Amity University Online to teach it online.

Certificate wording

Under UGC rules, the back of the certificate says the degree was studied online.

What an online degree certificate says

Employer verification

With the student’s permission, an employer can check the degree on the National Academic Depository, a government website that stores degree records. The check takes up to 24 hours.

Government jobs

The UPSC civil services exam needs a degree from a recognised university. It does not ask how the degree was studied.

Best for

  • Students finishing Class 12 who want a career working with data
  • Students who like numbers, charts and solving problems
  • Students curious about how data helps a company decide what to do

After the degree

A first job

Amity names data analyst and business intelligence analyst as first jobs. Both jobs mean studying a company's data to help it decide what to do next. All students also learn to code in C, Java and Python.

Further study

After this degree, students can apply for a master's degree, for example an MCA (Master of Computer Applications).

The final project

Every student builds a major project in the last semester. It can be shown to employers as an example of the student's own work.
